Going Slightly Mad
I cannot settle down to work today. My head is too full of...stuff.
1. I'm feeling completely sick about this election. I'm sick at the prospect of having to hit the barricades to keep my marriage from being invalidated. I'm sick at the idea of Canadian kids being sent to fight George Bush's war. And I don't know who I'm more angry with -- Paul Martin for getting himself into this mess or Stephen Harper for forcing an election before anyone really had time to figure out who did what to whom. And if I see Jack "Nader" Layton, I'm going to kick him in the nuts.
And is nobody else worried by the fact that Harper actually said that we should depend on the Liberal-dominated Senate to protect us from him?? WTF?? Firstly, the Senate is not going to block legislation that's passed in the House of Commons. Secondly, he's telling us that he's going to behave in such a way that the Canadian people might wish to hide under the skirts of the Senate. And nobody's going to be able to say that he didn't warn us.
2. I'm stressing about this job for K. They said they'd be contacting people on or about today to set up interviews. It's one o'clock and we've heard nothing. That's not necessarily bad news, but I'm in knots about it.
3. I've been burying my head in the fanfic sand to avoid thinking about items 1 and 2. This is not necessarily a bad thing, because, since there's not a bloody thing I can do about the election or this job, I might as well make use of all this nervous energy. But thinking about elevator sex when I'm supposed to be coming up with a new communication strategy for a huge policy initiative? Not really the best use of my brain.
*sigh*

Well we have John Howard here In Ozland and he is a wanker. Too much of a George Bush lapdog. So I know how you feel about sending troops off to fight in Bush's wargames. Back home we have Tony Blair. But he's not too bad when it comes to certain issues.
I hope and pray that Canada doesn't invalidate your marriage. That is so wrong on many levels,. Goverment has no right to tell you who you can and cannot marry. I was always quiet proud of Canada for their forward thinking. I was also quiet proud of UK for abolishing their rules on same sexed couples in Armed Forces. Now with new laws in place for same sexed couples... I was hoping that this would spread to Australia and rest of CommonWealth. The eventually to US.
Keeping fingers crossed that the idiots don't get in.
*hugs*
