I'm hoping that C-SPAN will carry the election results from CBC Newsworld like they did last time. Then we can watch and obsess and gnaw our fingernails together. *sigh*
The rant below is not aimed at our flist, really--I just don't have any other place to vent my spleen.
What the hell is wrong with people? Hey Canada, guess what? That man with the candy and the cute puppy wants to lure you into his van and drive you off into the woods and eviscerate you! And do unspeakable things with your corpse! And he even told you he wants to do it, and you're even thinking about getting in that van? After what happened to your neighbor? Wake up!
*kicks people who think any politician anywhere is more than passingly honest, and yes, I'm including my boyfriend Barack Obama in that*
Also, this is well worth reading, especially for Americans who are wondering what the fuss is about--not that I think there are too many of those here.
For thirty years now, I have listened to Canadians trying to define what distinguishes them from Americans, and it always baffles me because it so simple.
I can put it into a single word: kindness.
He goes on to say that a Conservative government would...oh, just read it. This should probably be an entry of its own, but I'm too sleepy and stressed to even cut and paste right now. Keep your fingers crossed for the government, is all.
