The doctor's office called a few minutes ago -- they basically told me the same thing yours did. She suggested it might be from the placenta implanting in the uterus. She said sometimes that blood is reabsorbed, but other times it makes its way out. She said it's very common and nothing to worry about unless I develop severe cramping or fever.
I'm going to avoid the internet now because you're right -- I keep hearing about frightening things that never crossed my mind before. I've got a follow-up ultrasound scheduled for this Thursday. I'm sure Tenacious is fine. Probably.
