Signs and Wonders

Doc #1 may have some unfortunate attitudes, but he was really great in person. Had me giggling then told me I had to stop because he once had a patient who laughed so hard she shot the speculum across the room.
And? Coolest thing EVAR! He had the nurse put a drop of Mike's stuff on a slide so we could look at it under the microscope. Apparently this is his SOP -- he likes to evaluate the sperm sample himself before doing the insem. It never really occured to me, but I think they should ALL do that. And sperm? Are very, very, very small. Even under the microscope they were just these tiny wiggling specks. Billions of them. Apparently it was "an excellent sample" -- Go Mikey! K and I Could. Not. Stop. Looking. At. Them. The nurse told us we could always ask to check out the sperm, no matter what doctor we had. Hopefully, we won't need to be looking at anymore sperm anytime soon, but it's nice to have the option.
And, dude, gajillions of those little bastards were swimming around inside me! Those of you who practice het probably don't find this all that remarkable. Although, I think if you could SEE them under the microscope, you might be similarly awed.
The timing was bang on. I had two decent-sized follicles on the morning of the first insem. My estrogen was nice and high and I think I ovulated about 7 hours after the insemination. Early enough so that the first batch of sperm would still be alive and late enough so that the egg would still be viable when the next wave of sperm arrived.
The second day's procedure was uneventful. A different doctor -- we've had her before and she is really fast and painless. I think my own doctor is the only one who's clumsy and awkward with the speculum.
K checked out my chart while I was resting after the insemination. My progesterone went up significantly on its own after I ovulated. I think that's a very good sign.
And signs are all we have to go on for the next two weeks. We go for the pregnancy test on American Thanksgiving.
